Payette Lake at Sunset

Payette Lake at Sunset

Hi, my name is Jim Robertson and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the growing Central Idaho town of McCall.

I have lived in McCall since 1976. I worked in construction before I became a Real Estate agent in 1992. My two children grew up in McCall. One is a special ed teacher in Boise and the works for Rutgers University in New Jersey. There have been a number of changes in McCall since then and it continues to change every year.

We have an indoor ice skating rink. Nearby Ponderosa State Park provides a beautiful setting for cross country skiing as well as many summer activities. Downhill Skiing on Brundage Mountain is fantastic and just 8 miles away. Twenty miles from town is Tamarack Resort with ski slopes, golf and much more. The area is also known as “Snowmobile Heaven“. Miles and miles of groomed trails lead to the back country towns where you can get a meal, fuel up and then return home. If you would rather go it on your own, you could ride from McCall to Wyoming without ever leaving National Forest which surrounds our town and covers most of Central Idaho.

We do have 3 wilderness areas within 50 miles of McCall. These public lands draw avid hunters to the area for the most sought after trophy game. Hunting is a principle topic of conversation between September and April. If it is native to the northwest, you can probably hunt for it around McCall.

Summers are wonderful! The temperatures are mild (70’s to 80’s) with very little rain. Payette Lake in McCall, as seen with Google Maps, is a deep water lake averaging about 90 ft. Just 17 miles south is Lake Cascade which is larger but much shallower. Both have boat fishing and water skiing. There are a number of golf courses in the area. One 27 hole course is in operation in McCall. One 18 hole course just 15 miles to the west in New Meadows. There is a 9 hole course on the east shore of Cascade Lake along with the new 18 hole course at the Tamarack Resort on the west side of the lake. Both of these are about 30 miles to the south. There is also a new 18 hole course at the base of Jughandle Mountain 12 miles south of McCall. It was ranked “second best new golf course in America” — January 2008 Golf Digest.

Fishing is available for either the casual weekend fisherman or the perennial diehard. All 700 area lakes (within a 50 mile radius) have been stocked sometime in the past. Hiking into all of the back country lakes which fill the bowls carved out by ancient glaciers could take a lifetime. Along the way you may enjoy breathtaking views of mountains and river canyons. Creeks meander through lush meadows which may afford you a delightful surprise of a wildlife sighting.

If you have some real estate needs please consider me. I would appreciate the opportunity to work with you in finding that special home or piece of property. Please feel free to contact me by mail, fax, toll free phone call or e-mail. I will promptly send you any information that you may desire.

Sincerely,
Jim Robertson
